Remember those relaxing days of yore...
... when travel on trains was full of fun and excitement. Cosy compartment coaches, a chance meeting or a fond farewell, milk churns and mail bags, pigeons and porters, flowers and fresh air at the country station, birds singing as excitement mounts with the sound of a distant whistle, then the sight, sound and smell of the steam engine arriving at the station! A cup of railway tea and a sandwich, a visit to the local pub across the road from the station or a short walk into the countryside.

Welcome to the Dean Forest Railway, the Friendly Forest Line!
Whether it is to bring back memories or show children the magic of trains from a bygone era, come and let us help re-create that wonderful of atmosphere of a country railway. And don't forget to have a chat with the driver, guard or any of our volunteers, for you can be sure of a cheery reply! We love running the railway and want you to enjoy it as much as we do!
