Local Residents' Pass
What benifits do you get with your free Local Residents' pass?
25% off travel!
On any of our normal running days you can take advantage of a quarter off the standard fare for yourself and up to three children (don't worry, you can have more than one pass per household). Some special events may also have special rates for local residents, so make sure you provide an email address when you apply so you can stay up to date on these offers.
20% off in the cafe!
Our cafe is open 7 days a week serving a wide range of food and drinks, from light bites to full meals and from barista coffee to local brews. 20% is available off all food and drink, excluding homemade jars of preserves.
10% off in the shop!
Our newly refurbished shop has got great ranges for everyone, including a huge line of books and DVDs for the enthusiasts, and one of the largest ranges of Thomas the Tank Engine toys in the country! There are also plenty of other toys and gifts available, so nobody's left out. Enjoy 10% off all items in the shop, excluding any model railway items (i.e. 00 and N gauge).
How do I apply for the pass?
The passes will be available from Saturday April 1st. Simply pop in to the Shop & Ticket Office at Norchard Station (on Forest Road, GL15 4ET) with your proof of residency (for the GL14/15/16/17 and NP16/25 postcode areas). You will just need to fill out a short form (you can find a copy of the leaflet complete with application form to print out here if you wish to fill it out beforehand) and we will produce your card.
Please note that we will take your picture when you apply for the card. This will not appear on the card, but will appear on our system when we scan the card in the future.
The Golden Ticket
For those of you living practically on our doorstep, we are offering a very special extra discount card. All residents of the GL15 postcode area can apply for our "Golden Ticket". This pass will cost £10 for three years, and gives 75% off the standard fare on any of our normal running days. This can be purchased when applying for the free local residents' pass.
Why not join the railway for extra discounts?
Become a member of the railway
Members of the railway are entitled to 50% off travel, and also receive our quarterly magazine, which keeps you up to date on all the latest goings on at the railway. Membership is available for adults at £20 a year, seniors (over 60) at £15 a year, juniors (under 16) at £10 a year and families (2 adults and up to 3 children) at £25 a year.
Become a volunteer
We're always looking for help to keep the railway running and keep improving what we can offer. There are lots of departments across the railway, so whatever your interests you're sure to be able to find your niche. Working members (members of the railway who are also volunteers) have some huge discounts available for them, with free travel on normal running days, discounts on many special events, and larger discounts in the shop and cafe, so it's certainly worth your time.
