In days gone by, Station Masters took pride in creating an attractive environment in which passengers could await their train service and competitions were held annually for the 'Best Kept Station Garden'. We are trying to maintain this tradition by enhancing the environment at our three main stations with flower tubs, hanging baskets and planted borders.
Chepstow Garden Centre kindly let us have two more half barrels at cost price and where better to put them than outside Jane and Sue’s café? We hope visitors to the Platelayers’ Buffet will also enjoy the flowers!
We are grateful to Wilkinson for their gift of a store voucher with which we have bought new compost for our plantings this year.
A big thank you to Jean Bathgate who grew the plants for all our tubs this summer and to all who have supported the plant sales table. The takings, together with the help of these two shops, have covered the costs of the gardening again this year.
